A variety of safety measures have been implemented, including sanitiser stations, two-metre navigational markers on the floor and perspex screens at the checkouts.

Shoppers are being asked to limit shopping groups to no more than two people, and not to bring anyone under the age of 16.

B&Q stores are open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am till 6pm on Sunday, but these opening times can vary from branch to branch.

You can check the opening times for your local branch using the B&Q store locator.

A statement from Homebase CEO, Damian McGloughlin, said: “All our stores are now open with strict safety precautions in place to help everyone shop safely.”

You’ll find floor markings to indicate safe, two-metre distances between shoppers, perspex screens at all the tills, and you’ll only be able to pay by card.

Homebase said: “All our stores have been carefully set up - and modified, where needed - to ensure they can be run safely for everyone.”

Homebase is open between 9am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, but opening times can vary from branch to branch.

Wickes

Wickes is still in the process of reopening all of its stores, although most of its branches have been opened.

A statement reads: “At Wickes we put customer safety at the heart of everything we do. But right now, that doesn’t just mean goggles, steel toe-capped boots or yellow helmets.

“It means 2 metre distances, paying by card and safety screens at checkouts. We ask all of you to do it right by following our new safety measures.”

The stores that have reopened will be operating shorter opening hours from Monday to Saturday, with opening times of either 7am or 8am and closing at either 4pm or 5pm. Sunday trading hours remain 10am to 4pm.

IKEA

It was announced that from 1 June, IKEA will be welcoming customers back to their stores across England and Northern Ireland.

IKEA will be introducing socially distanced safe shopping and ask if you can shop alone. If not, you can only bring one other person from the same household.

IKEA will also only be accepting cards, not cash at this point.

The store will be operating reduced opening hours from 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
