Video shows huge tailback as shoppers queue for IKEA Sheffield reopening

Shoppers flocked to IKEA in Sheffield as it reopened today, with this video showing the huge traffic jams which have formed around the store.

Traffic could be seen tailing back beyond the Premier Inn hotel on Attercliffe Common as customers who have missed out on their flat pack fix headed to the branch in their droves.

Paige Asher shared this clip of traffic with the advice: “Anyone thinking of going to IKEA, I suggest not.”

The Sheffield store was one of 19 IKEA branches in England and Northern Ireland to reopen on Monday, June 1, having been closed since lockdown began in March.

One driver reported how traffic was starting to tail back to the M1 slip road, while someone called for IKEA to sell water to those queuing in ‘red hot’ temperatures.

IKEA now has wardens in place to ensure customers keep their distance, families have been banned, and only card or contactless payment is accepted.
