Video shows eager shoppers queueing 'up to FOUR HOURS' at South Yorkshire retail park

Today South Yorkshire’s retail scene burst back into life as the Government allowed non-essential stores to reopen across the UK for the first time since lockdown.

And shoppers across the county responded by turning out in force, not only on the high street but also across retail parks.

This video sent in by a resident this afternoon (Monday, June 15) shows a jam-packed Park Gate shopping centre in Rotherham, where crowds descended to snap up items at stores such as Matalan and Sports Direct.

A bystander claims that people were queuing up to four hours to get inside their favourite shops.

Meanwhile in Sheffield, the city centre was ‘as busy as ever’ with large queues spotted outside Sports Direct and Primark.

According to Springboard, footfall in England was up by almost half this morning for the first time in three months- an increase of 41.7 per cent.
