The Sheffield shopping centre tweeted at around 1pm today, Sunday, May 9, to say: “Our centre is at capacity today so we are asking visitors to queue in the designated area until it’s safe to enter.

“Our car park marshalls are out informing arriving cars of the situation.”

There were also queues yesterday and over the bank holiday weekend as the centre continues to operate at reduced capacity due to Covid.

Following complaints from some frustrated customers last weekend, Meadowhall said it was ‘carefully managing visitor numbers so we can be confident that everyone can maintain social distancing’.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to our customers for their continued support and understanding in helping to keep everybody safe,” it added in a statement issued on Tuesday.
