“Greenhill local shops have a DIY shop, butchers, bakers, newsagents, chemist, barbers, but lacked somewhere where you could buy a decent card and gift.

“We pride ourselves on our customers being able to find the perfect gift for their family and friends without breaking the bank.

“I wanted somewhere people would enjoy going to and would provide a nice shopping experience. So many customers say how calm and relaxing it is in the shop, so I think I have achieved that.”

Kelly is proud to support local makers in her store, Greenhill Main Road.

“There are a lot of talented local makers in Sheffield which I stock, she said. “This ranges from prints and greeting cards to chocolate and cushions.”

Running her own shop is also allows Kelly to support other local businesses – and juggle her work and home life.

She said: “My youngest child comes to the shop after school and sometimes in the school holidays which is great. Having a shop in the area that I live in definitely has its advantages. I have time to do the school run, grab a take out coffee from local cafe Cello, walk the dog with my sister-in-law, get home, get ready and get to the shop for just before 10am when it opens.”

Another thing Kelly loves the most about running her own business is getting to know the people who buy from her.

She said: “It helps as I know lots of people who live local and they are all very supportive, it is great to have so many friendly faces calling in.

“When someone comes in and I have been recommended by someone is most definitely the best compliment I think. It’s also great to hear when someone has bought someone a gift from me and they really love it.”

New customers will get 10 per cent off their purchase when mentioning this article. No minimum spend required.
