MaxiSaver is bucking the trend of high street closures with plans to open 20 new stores this year – and one of them will be in Sheffield

This comes after the retailer got off to a running start last August, having already opened eight outlets in the Midlands.

To facilitate its expansion into Yorkshire, MaxiSaver’s owners are looking for premises that offer between 2,500 sq ft and 6,000 sq ft of sales space in towns and cities and is also on the lookout for larger out of town units covering up to 15,000 sq ft.

It is not yet confirmed where the Sheffield outlet will be.

MaxiSaver sells approximately 6,000 value for money products. It’s range includes food and drink, household goods, pets, cleaning, stationary, garden and health and beauty.

Prices range from 29p to £59.99.

Managing Director, Paul Mathers, told industry publisher Bdaily News: “I’ve always felt there was a gap in the market for a convenience style retailer offering high quality products and genuine value, which is exactly what MaxiSaver does.

“As soon as we opened our first store last August, it became an immediate hit which gave us the confidence to roll-out further stores.

"Each store will initially create 10 new jobs, so we will also be recruiting 200 people across our store network this year, as well as growing our head office team in line with our ongoing expansion strategy.”

The eight Maxisaver shops already open across the country are in Hinckley, Erdington, Stourbridge, Melton Mowbray, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Dudley, and Newark.
