Meadowhall’s secret rules and banned items that could see you thrown out of Sheffield shopping centre

Like most shopping centres, Sheffield’s Meadowhall has rules shoppers need to stick to or risk being thrown out.

So if you find yourself doing any of the below you could be asked to leave, even if you don’t know you’re breaking the rules.

Any actions that may be perceived as intimidating – such as wearing motorcycle helmets and hoods, or groups of youths loitering both inside and outside – will see visitors asked to leave. As will unsociable behaviour, including swearing, shouting or any behaviour that could be detrimental to a family environment.

Pets, with the exception of assistance dogs, are also forbidden.

And you’ll be out on your ear should you decide to remove your shirt or shoes. Hi Vis clothing is also banned.

Leafleting, canvassing or conducting of any interviews and surveys within the malls or car parks is also not allowed. As is busking or unauthorised selling of goods.

Smoking or vaping on the malls is against the rules, as is travelling through the malls on wheels. And you’re not permitted to run, climb or sit on any escalator.

Nor can you film, vlog or use tripod equipment.

Alcohol is only to be consumed within premises that hold a relevant license. And customers must stay within the boundaries of the premises that they have purchased their drink from.

Meadowhall also reserves the right to refuse entry to, or remove any person or persons from its property.

The shopping centre says the rules are in place “to ensure that everyone enjoys their visit”.
