Last month The Star reported a planning application had been submitted to Sheffield City Council to erect one internally illuminated fascia sign and one internally illuminated projecting sign at 33 – 35 Fargate, which is currently home to the stores.

Drawings submitted as part of the application reveal the new signage is that of Superdrug Stores, which currently has two shops in Sheffield city centre.

The deadline for the Council’s planning committee to approve those plans is 27 February.

At the time a spokesperson for Arcadia Group, the company which owns the high street clothing retailer, denied the store was closing.

However, the signs displayed in the shop front confirm the store is closing and ‘everything must go’. It is not yet known when the store will close,

The Star has contacted Arcadia Group for comment.
