10 photos showing Sheffield city centre beautifully illuminated for Christmas

The countdown to Christmas is on after the festive season was officially declared open with this year’s Christmas lights switch-on in Sheffield.

The city centre has been illuminated on Fargate, the Peace Gardens, Barkers Pool, Pinstone Street, The Moor and Division Street – and will stay lit up to 5 January 2021.

It is hoped restrictions will be relaxed when the national lockdown ends on 2 December, allowing people to enjoy a fuller festive experience as more shops and hospitality businesses reopen.

What’s Father Christmas bringing you this year?
