Sheffield United’s community charity has launched an ‘app’ which can be downloaded on mobile phones and tablets.

The app has been developed to allow the charity to share its work, which includes promoting participation in sport, education, health and social inclusion initiatives.

Patrick Piearcey from the Sheffield United Community Foundation said: “The foundation’s main aim is to build links between the football club and the community using the appeal of football and sport in general.

“With six out of 10 people in the UK now owning a smartphone it’s essential we reach this audience. Our app will allow us to do this and share all our important news and information.”

The application has been created by a company called The App Cellar.

Antony Green, director of The App Cellar, said: “The Sheffield United Community Foundation App is a quick, easy and inexpensive way for the charity to keep in touch with people using smartphones and tablets to browse the internet each day.”

To download the app log on to and scan the QR code with your smartphone.
