FANCIE CANTEEN 359-361 ECCLESALL ROAD, SHEFFIELD S11 8ZP, BY NICKY VALANTINE, LIFESTYLE COACH
I like Fancie Canteen for their twist on simple food. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Their Meatball Sarnie kept a normally chatty 17 year old very quiet and happy, a light, fresh fish salad impressed my sister and I really loved the Crispy Fish Sarnie with a lovely avocado salsa. We also had the skinny chips! No girlie lunch is the same without them.
SNAP DELI 985 ECCLESALL ROAD, SHEFFIELD S11 8TN BY SARAH ALKINS, OF CHRYSALIS CONSORTIUM FOSTERING
Deli by day – fabulous bistro by night for parties of eight or more. We ate there to celebrate a family birthday. It felt a very exclusive and intimate experience and it was by far the best meal we have had out in Sheffield in years.
The favourite dish of the evening – roasted pork belly with roasted veg, butternut squash puree and pork jus. We finished with a lemongrass panna cotta with mango coulis and toasted coconut ice-cream. The cost was £25 a head, you take your own wine and there’s no corkage fee.
TREBLE BOB, TALLY’S END, BARLBOROUGH S434TX, BY KATH MARDLES OF NOT FOR PROFIT CRECHE AND PARTY COMPANY BUZZ
I live in Chesterfield and the Treble Bob at Balborough is my favourite pub to eat in. It’s got an amazing carvery, a fantastic menu and there are always gorgeous specials on. I don’t eat meat and I’m never disappointed. Last time I went I had roast pepper and goats cheese Spanish omelette. It was delicious. My friend’s pork chops were char grilled with black pudding mash, crispy leeks and ginger beer glaze. Another had the carvery, which looked gorgeous. The Yorkshire puddings were out of this world.
