“Adopt not shop”: Three loving pups are looking for homes - including waggy tailed Happy and gentle Mira
Three rescue dogs at Sheffield Animal Centre are looking for loving homes as the RSPCA warns of rising cases involving large numbers of animals at single addresses
Happy, Mira and Macy are among the dogs hoping to find their forever homes as part of the RSPCA’s Adoptober campaign.
The animal charity is urging people to “adopt and not shop” as new figures reveal its frontline officers are dealing with an average of 410 incidents involving 10 or more animals every month.

Happy, a six-year-old French Bulldog and Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, was rescued from poor conditions at an empty property last year.
When he arrived at the centre, he was underweight, limping and in urgent need of veterinary treatment for sore skin and ears.

Dawn Sampson, from the RSPCA branch, said: “Thankfully Happy, aged six, has faced every hurdle with a waggly tail and kisses for all.
“He is just so sweet – everyone who sees him wants to say hello and he is more than happy to oblige with lots of cuddles.”
Meanwhile, two-year-old German Shepherd Mira is being cared for in a foster home.
Described as gentle, loving and playful, she enjoys walks, spending time in the garden and playing with her toys.

She has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, a condition affecting the hip joint, but has made progress with treatment.
Dawn said: “The vets are really pleased and feel that as long as she is managed well there is no reason she won’t live a happy life.”
The third dog hoping for a fresh start is eight-year-old American Bulldog Macy, who is also in foster care.

Dawn said: “Macy has come on in leaps and bounds during her time in foster care and has grown in confidence and settled into family life.
“She’s become affectionate, goofy and sweet-natured.”
The RSPCA hopes Adoptober will encourage more people to consider giving a rescue animal a home.
Dawn said: “If you think you could offer Happy, Mira and Macy a home, please get in touch with us and a member of the team will help you find your perfect match.
