Breeds of all shapes and sizes are waiting at the RSPCA kennels in South Yorkshire waiting the day they get brought home too.
These eight dogs pictured here are all in need of a new home and come from all walks of life, from roaming strays to elderly pups looking for a retirement home.
How about Basil, a Beagle x Spaniel who just wants a forever home where she can be spoiled and loved every day - while someone helps her learn to switch off her never-ending energy once in a while.
There’s also Happy, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was found in such a sorry state but has “overcome every hurdle with a waggy tail.”
Or maybe Mira, a “gentle, loving and playful” German Shepherd who will let you know when she wants to play - she’ll bring her toys and drop them in your lap to make it clear.
Take a look at these eight dogs in our gallery below, where you can also find a link to each of their adoption pages with the RSPCA.

1. Ginger is the gorgeous Beagle x Spaniel girl who is "so eager to please"
"Ginger is a very sweet older girl who adores to be with her people and is so eager to please you - she really is the sweetest lady! She can be a little sensitive some times and we have noticed that new people and situations can stress her out a little so she needs a supportive new home that won't expect too much of her while she settles and gets to know you - we really don't think it will take her long at all. We are looking for a new home for Ginger where she can be someone's companion and best friend as she is an amazing pooch who will return unconditional love in buckets!" - https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/sheffield-branch/findapet/details/GINGER/BSA2150906/rehome | RSPCA

2. Sage the lurcher crossbreed who gets a daily dose of the zoomies
"We have a lovely lady here Sage, looking for her forever humans! Sage is a very active, inquisitive, and bouncy young lady who has endless amounts of energy, loves life, and sees everything as something fun. She loves to be up close and personal with you and will climb up onto your knee for fusses, roll over on her back for tummy rubs and of course lots of cuddles and kisses! This is of course after her daily dose of lurcher zoomies – the girl is fast!!" - https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/sheffield-branch/findapet/details/SAGE/BSA2150910/rehome | RSPCA

3. Betty the cuddly Staffordshire Bull Terrier
"Beautiful Betty is ready to find her forever humans! Betty is a very sweet, inquisitive, and cuddly girl who can come across as shy to begin but once she has given you the once over (good sniff) she will show her true personality and demand all the fuss. She loves to be up close and personal with you and will climb up onto your knee for fusses, roll over on her back for tummy rubs and of course lots of cuddles and kisses!" - https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/sheffield-branch/findapet/details/BETTY/BSA2151072/rehome | RSPCA

4. Basil the Beagle x Spaniel cross who "loves everybody she meets"
"Say hello to our super fun and friendly Beagle x Spaniel girl Basil. She is looking for her forever home where she can be spoilt, loved and able to have all the fun she wants and deserves. Basil is still very much young at heart and certainly takes on a lot of spaniel traits - but she is super sweet and loves everybody she meets. Being part Spaniel she has lots of energy and is always eager to learn and please. We are looking for a new home for Basil where she can be someone's companion and best friend as she is an amazing pooch who will return unconditional love in buckets full! With Basils personality and temperament - we think she will be happy to live with dog savvy children primary school age and over who are comfortable around bouncy, energetic dogs. Of course we would make sure everyone was happy before she went home." - https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/sheffield-branch/findapet/details/BASIL/BSA2150909/rehome | RSPCA
