Smudge and Jake are both elderly chaps in good health, hoping for caring retirement homes.
Joey the chihuahua, who is three years old, came into the shelter under very sad circumstances, when his owners sadly passed away in a road traffic collision.
Could you give him a new family?
These are just a few of the characters hoping to find adopters this week.

1. Jake
"Jake (aged 12) has come from a very loving family home and is really missing his home comforts. Sadly his human mum was taken very poorly so he has come to us to find an equally loving retirement home. He is great with other dogs and very friendly. He likes a gentle walk, 20 minutes or so and then will sit by your feet and relax. He spends a lot of time in the office and is a great assistant. He is suitable to have younger visitors but better in a slow paced retirement home. He’s in great health for an older chap!" | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
2. Smudge
"Smudge (aged 13) is an older terrier who could easily be mistaken for a puppy! He is very cute and friendly in nature. Smudge is a small jack russell who would be perfect as a companion to keep someone company. He has been good with other dogs and even made friends with the biggest dogs at Thornberry. Smudge is best suited to a more relaxed home with no young children but should be comfortable around younger visitors such as children / grandchildren." | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
3. Sophie
"This beautiful girl (Mastiff Cross aged 2y, 9m) has the most wonderful friendly and loving temperament. She can be unaware of her size when she barges you for a cuddle and will try to sit on your lap given the chance. Sophie was transferred to us by some incredibly kind people who worked hard to save her ‘as her days were up’ So we do have limited history on her prior to this. She would be best matched to homes with older children only and some experience of a bigger breed ideal. She has been great with other dogs out and about on walks, all be it strong and eager to say hello." | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
4. Bandit
"Bandit (aged 4y, 8m) is a small sized lurcher (more whippet size) who has a lovely and gentle nature. He is a little reserved initially but warms quickly. He loves to be with people and enjoys a cuddle. Bandit has been the only dog in his previous home but is comfortable around others and is well socialised. He could live with teenagers in his new home." | Thornberry Animal Santuary
