This week we have rounded up all the dogs that are being cared for by Rotherham’s Helping Yorkshire Poundies and Blue Cross Sheffield - all of which are available for adoption.
Just some of the dogs mentioned below include a squeaky toy-obsessed Great Dane cross chocolate Labrador called Coco, a gorgeous one-eyed dog from Greece called Isla, and Max an American Bulldog who greets everyone he meets with a smile and a wiggly bum.
In the meantime, check out these 13 stunning pups below.
1. Harry, aged 11
Harry is an 11 year old Jack Russell cross who is looking for a quiet retirement home. He’s a lovely and smart little chap but also quite a sensitive soul who needs a gentle hand with someone who won’t be too overbearing with him – he loves a fuss on his terms, but doesn’t want any heavy handling. He has shown no issues around other dogs, and could live with a small calm dog. He enjoys a couple of walks a day to stretch his legs. He doesn't enjoy car journeys, but he can manage short trips when necessary. He would love a calm, quiet, child-free home with a private, secure garden. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies
2. Koda, aged one
According to Koda's microchip, he is an American bulldog x husky which explains the bright blue eyes. He is medium-large in size (26kg). Koda would love a reasonably active home who are up for adventures and plenty of walking, but he isn’t super high energy and settles well after his walks. He knows plenty of commands and is a very bright boy who would love to learn more. He has shown no issues around other dogs, but has not been fully dog tested yet as he has a nasty case of kennel cough. Koda is very friendly with people. He has tons of character and definitely has a cheeky side to him, where you can see his Husky side. Koda is an amazing young boy who shouldn’t be in kennels. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies
3. Isla, aged five
Isla is a gentle, laid-back dog, who was originally rescued and imported from Greece. Isla lost her right eye before she arrived in the UK, but that doesn’t stop her one bit. She has no problems navigating her environments or engaging in play. She’s great at lounging by your side and loves peaceful, quiet environments. She would be perfect for someone looking for a dog who’s content with long walks and cosy afternoons. She currently lives with a few other dogs and doesn’t often meet new dogs when she is by herself. Isla is looking for new owners who can help build her confidence around unfamiliar dogs. | Blue Cross (Sheffield)
4. Hazel, aged 16 months
Hazel, a young mastiff, came into HYP's care having just had a litter, who sadly all passed away. Poor Hazel was totally petrified, but has now made huge progress. She is still very scared of the ‘big wide world'. She will need slow introducing to the world at her own pace. She is initially wary of strangers but soon comes around and shows off her wiggly bum. She would hugely benefit from a foster home with or without a view to adopt so she can progress outside of the kennel environment. She needs a pet-free home with direct access to a totally secure garden, and owners with previous mastiff experience. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies
