One dog has been there a particularly long time - we have been sharing photos of Nova the Lurcher, at RSPCA, since November 2022.
She is nervous around strangers but so lovely once she’s your friend - she just needs to be given a chance.
Father and son Walter and Wes are still being looked after by the RSPCA after they were rescued by inspectors from their previous home.
One new face this week is Ted, the “ultimate companion” dachshund x rottweiler cross who Blue Cross describes as a “loveable guy” who is eager to please. The photo gallery of 19 furry friends below includes descriptions of the dogs’ personalities.
If you need more information about their needs or are interested in caring for any of them, head to RSPCA Sheffield or Blue Cross’ website.

9. Zeus, at RSPCA Sheffield
Zeus, a Mastiff corss, is a very active inquisitive pup, who has endless amounts of energy, loves his toys, and sees everything as something fun. He loves to be up close and personal with you and will climb up onto your knee for fusses, cuddles and kisses! He will need to continue with training in his new home, as he did not have much before coming to the rescue centre. He is a super intelligent boy and loves food as a reward when training. As he could end up being a big and powerful boy, any new potential families will need to bear in mind the space he may need along with being willing to work with this little one and his cheeky puppy behaviours. He needs a family who will be firm but fair with him, or he would run rings round them! | RSPCA

10. Ada, RSPCA Sheffield
Ada, a four-year-old German Shepherd, is an absolute sweetheart. She can be a bit of a worrier, but staff at the centre have been working on building her confidence, and she has come so far already. Typical of a shepherd, she doesn’t know her size and will try to be a lapdog. She is such a clever lady and just wants to please. Ada loves to be with her people and will smother you in affection. She does have an issue with her lungs but she is as healthy and happy as can be with no treatment required, just future monitoring and support to ensure she doesn't do too much exercise or get too hot. | RSPCA

11. Princess Margherita, at RSPCA
Princess Margherita was left abandoned, tied up, all alone with no care. Thankfully someone found her and contacted the Inspectors, who brought her to RSPCA Sheffield. Despite her past, she has been nothing but super friendly to everyone and every dog she has met, including the vets. She adores to be with people and loves go on adventures. Could you offer Princess Margherita a new life? | RSPCA

12. Nova, at RSPCA Sheffield
"Nova is such an amazing girl but is looking for a home with very patient and understanding owners. She has things that she needs support with and will need people who care enough to support her with this potentially for the rest of her life. Once she is your friend Nova is there to stay, she turns into such a playful pup, with just the right amount of sweetness. However, this girl can struggle with strangers and people she doesn't know especially if they intrude her space with no respect for her boundaries. She needs people who are kind and can support her in these situations to help her feel safe and secure." Nova is a 5-year-old Lurcher. | RSPCA
