In 2014, the event raised over £10,000 for various charities and in 2015 the multiple treks hope to raise £20,000 or more.

Hikers can choose to enter one of four distances including 25, 50, 75 or 100km and can select a charity they would like to support.

The Gold 100km and Silver 75km challenges will start on Friday, September 18, in the evening with a walk through the night to complete the challenge within a 24 hour target.

Bronze 50km and Copper 25km challenges will start on Saturday, September 19, and hikers will aim to finish within a 12 hour target.

This year the Gold challenge has grown from 90km to 100km to offer more of a challenge to entrants who want to push their limits.

The Challenge will start and finish in scenic Hathersage, but participants and supporters are encouraged to arrive by public transport to reduce the impact on the environment.

The event is being organised by Wilderness Development to raise funds for as many charities as possible and in particular the organiser’s chosen charity the Manchester and Ugandan-based SALVE International which helps under-privileged children.
