Sheffield Council has launched an online survey to gauge opinions on the park and how it could be developed further.

Parks and Countryside Services’ staff have received public health funding to make improvements to sites across the city that will benefit people's health and wellbeing.

As part of this, Ecclesfield Park has been allocated public health unding which will be used alongside existing S106 funds allocated to the park to help deliver changes.

The council is now turning to the public to hear what they would like the funding to be spent on, aiming to turn Ecclesfield Park into ‘a more active park’ to make it more accessible to a wider amount of people in the Sheffield community.

The survey has already had over 200 responses, and closes on January 31 2021.

East Ecclesfield and Labour Councillor Andy Bainbridge said: “Ecclesfield Park is well loved and well used.

"The playground, multi-use-games-area and skating area are great, but I don’t believe there are enough leisure and recreation facilities currently at the park.

“We instructed council officers to explore what more should be done to transform the site into an active park, to provide activities and opportunities for a wide range of ages and abilities. This will come at a cost, but we believe that our parks and green spaces are a priority.

"It is now for the wider community to tell us what they think so that the improvements they want to see are delivered.”

As well as stating what changes you would like to be made, the council is interested to hear views of Ecclesfield Park as it is currently, and what is most liked about the space.

Andy Bainbridge added: “The consultation will directly affect turning Ecclesfield Park into a more active park – with better accessibility and usage.

"I urge residents to have they say and promise I will work hard to ensure the council are properly listening, and deliver a park we can all be proud of.”Visit www.sheffield.citizenspace.com to have a say.
