Phew, what a scorcher, so where better to go for a takeaway than somewhere called Roast?
This little place opposite the entrance to the big Hallam University building is great for a classy takeaway or eating in. Or to eat out as they have shady tables sitting outside on artificial grass. There’s more grass on the counter, decorated with mini cows and Subbuteo figures.
Sitting out while I waited for my breakfast and lunch order felt like a mini staycation.
I wasn’t up to the everything-on Pride of Britain breakfast but plumped for a very tasty Cumberland sausage sarnie (£2.90), washed down with lovely freshly-squeezed orange juice (£1.85).
Lunch was from a range of salads and sandwiches. The warm paprika chicken came with beautiful pesto potato salad and meltingly sweet roast peppers, decorated with delicate red micro cress (£5.95), plus a crusty roll. Perfect for a superior picnic lunch.
£10.70 for the lot.
