Kirtsy Allssop and Phil Spencer presented the long-running Channel 4 show from the city on Wednesday night, helping two couples find their dream homes.

In the introduction, Kirsty said she loved visiting the Sheffield and even bought some cutlery when she last came here.

Many viewers were just happy to see what one called ‘the greatest city on earth’ on national TV.

One young couple with a £450,000 budget missed out on their dream home in Sheffield because they spent too much time 'fussing' over whether to buy the house.

But the show’s John Lewis sponsorship did not go down too well with some Sheffield viewers.

The planned closure of Sheffield's John Lewis store has been described as a "hammer blow" to the city.

There has been an unprecedented outpouring of emotion from workers after the firm announced it would not reopen earlier this year.

Bosses told Sheffield MPs the store was profitable before it closed at the start of the pandemic. But last month they predicted it could not be ‘profitably sustained’ in future, blaming lockdowns and internet shopping.

It is set to close for good after a staff consultation ends in June.
