We have looked at Helping Yorkshire Poundies, Sheffield RSPCA, and Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in Rotherham to show you 21 of the dogs in their care, hoping for a home this winter.
Some of these pups would love to sprint around Sheffield's parks and the nearby Peak District with a whole family, while others prefer to stick to resting in a garden and cuddles from their owners - could you provide a home suited to either of these, or anywhere in between?
If you think your home could be the perfect fit for one of the following dogs, please visit the website of the relevant charity to find out how you can adopt or foster.
If you cannot foster or adopt any of the canines, but you would still like to help the cause, consider making a financial donation to aid their work, again by following each charities' website.

13. Agnus, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
Agnus is a petite and sweet ex–racing greyhound, and she has never lived in a home before. She is 3-years-old, very gentle, and would benefit from a quieter home. Agnus very much enjoys time in our off lead area so will need a secure garden as part of her adoption. She could live with other dogs dependent on them being a suitable match but cannot live with cats. Any children in the home would need to be aged a teen and older | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary

14. Miles, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
Miles is a large lovable 9-year-old German Shepherd who despite his size will snuggle up at every given opportunity. He is strong on the lead but walks well with confident handlers. Miles can be reactive to dogs so would benefit from an experienced home, although given the chance to play, he is sociable and playful with dogs of a similar size. He is housetrained and could live with children aged 10+. Miles would love a large garden, quiet walks and lots of love with owners who are committed to his care and comforts. | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary

15. Jules, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
Jules is a petite 2-year-old greyhound who despite her small size is full of beans. She is an ex-racer so she has never lived in a home before. Jules' favourite thing to do is zoomies, and ideally she would have a large garden to charge around in. She will jump up for a cuddle and is all legs so any potential children in the household should be dog savvy. She is good with other dogs and cannot live with cats. Jules is being cared for by Thornberry Animal Sanctuary. | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary

16. Dougie, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
Dougie is an eleven-month-old male collie crossbreed. This bonkers lad is full of beans and will need all basic training. Dougie is best suited to an experienced home, ideally with some experience of high energy dogs. Dougie will need a lot of mental stimulation as well as exercise. He could live with children aged 14+, but he cannot live with other dogs. He should be exercised in areas that are not too busy initially as he can be overwhelmed in busy places.
