Shoppers across the region are set to extend their festive gift search further this year, with more people than ever before planning to shop last minute.
Meadowhall Shopping Centre is expecting to see a surge in pre-Christmas shopping trips after a recent survey revealed a rising trend for leaving it late.
Data produced by Experian this week, revealed yesterday would be the busiest shopping day of the year, as many people had finished work for the festive period and were heading out in search of last minute gifts for loved ones.
Meadowhall Centre Director, Darren Pearce said: “Christmas is the most important time of year for retail, and as a team we start planning for this period months in advance to ensure the very best shopping experience for our customers.
“We know our shoppers are extremely busy, and that is why we launched our extended opening hours in November, and have since extended them even further right up until Christmas to spread out the hours of shopping and help ensure every customer can complete their gift shopping to suit their own schedule.
Meadowhall is open from 9am until 5pm today, 8am until 6pm on Boxing Day and closed on Christmas Day.
