Moor House Farm is tucked away in a quiet spot off Machin Lane, near Underbank Reservoir close to Bolsterstone and Stocksbridge on the rural edge of the city not far from the Peak District boundary.

The current owners say the property is a ‘lovely looking house’.
“It’s a real eyeful as you come through the gates,” they say. “The location was another huge attraction when we first came to view it nearly 15 years ago as we’re surrounded by our own land but everything we need is easily accessible, including the motorway network for work and leisure purposes.
“We’ve not had to make any alterations to the layout as it’s ideal as it is, but we have made a number of improvements during our time here, including the addition of new windows and doors, and a new boiler.
"We’ve recently had the conservatory rebuilt and it’s a really lovely room now. The work continued outside too as we’ve had the driveway resurfaced which has given us extra parking space, as well as the addition of the electric gates which adds to the sense of security and privacy.”
There is ‘no shortage of scenic walks’ through the surrounding countryside and around the reservoir, the owners add.
"It’s great for horse riding along the bridle paths too. The Mustard Pot pub and restaurant is within walking distance just down the road and it’s extremely popular, so booking ahead is advised. Fox Valley Retail Park is a short drive away in Stocksbridge and there’s a good choice of supermarkets in the local area, so everything we need is nearby.”
Moor House Farm’s split-level garden is ‘very secure and private with plenty of shrubs and plants to give colour and interest throughout the year’, the vendors say.
“We’re not overlooked and it’s always quiet as we’re flanked by our own land. The garden is full of wildlife and birds, including goldfinch, wrens, robins and cuckoos. We even have a skylark in the moor behind. We open the conservatory doors to the rear patio to create an area ideal for relaxing and entertaining as it’s the perfect spot for a summer barbecue.”
The sellers say they tend to spend most of their time in the farmhouse’s snug.
“It’s a welcoming and cosy room which is nice and warm in the winter, and lovely and light in the summer. Moor House Farm has been very kind to us, and we have certainly enjoyed our time here.”
