The convenient location

Heeley is great because it’s within a short walking distance to many things you may need. A walk in to the city centre will only take half an hour, give or talk, and the train station is only about 20 minutes away. Heeley People’s Park, on View Road, gives residents six distinct sites and a range of spaces and activities that make it like a mini Peak District on the doorstep; two world-class boulders, cycle tracks, picnic and play areas, pretty views, wildflower meadows and orchards. The space is also home to thousands of wildlife and bird species. It’s a perfect place for people of all ages, and families, to come together and enjoy all the park has to offer; both in terms of natural beauty and fun activities.

The farm

One of the greatest pleasures for any Heeley resident is a visit to Heeley City Farm, on Richards Road. Home to a variety of animals, the farm is a a certified rare breeds centre which means that they breed native UK breeds which are so rare some species are classed as vulnerable by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. There are goats, pigs, horses, sheep, ducks, chickens, peafowl and even a silver pheasant. There’s also an inside area which is home to some small cute and cuddly animals, such as rabbits. There's also an under-8s playground for little ones to enjoy and home cooked meals for all to enjoy available in the cafe. Not only that, but there are regular activities and events happening throughout the year. Farm entry is free too, but donations are welcomed.

The history and the shopping

Heeley is home to part of the Sheffield Antiques Quarter, which is a must visit for any resident with an interest in history, antiques or vintage items. It is full to the brim with tempting treasures, retro finds and quirky independent stores. From its glittering emporiums to delightful tea rooms tempting you with delicious home baked cakes, there's something for everyone and its easy to spend a few hours exploring here. Heeley Bank Antiques centre, on Queens Road, is just one of the the examples of the the shops you will find here. It is the start point of the Antiques Quarter and offers vintage items from over 30 dealers over two floors. It is a Grade II listed building and also a former bank. Customers will even be able to see some of the original features of the bank as they wander around.
