This trendy Sheffield suburb has been named as the best place in the UK for students to live - here's why
A Sheffield hotspot has been named as the best place to live for young academics
Broomhill in Sheffield has been named the best place in the UK for university students to live, according to a new study.
Based around 2km away from the city centre, Broomhill is a leafy suburb that is home to around 90 independent businesses giving students plenty of options when it comes to shopping, eating out or unwinding with friends over a beer.
It also neighbours The University of Sheffield, which is currently ranked 13th in the UCAS rankings while it’s only a short bus ride away from Sheffield Hallam which is another highly popular place to study.

The data ranking Broomhill as the top suburb to live while at university comes from online search and listing data specialists at SEO Backlinks, who have based their findings off a series of different factors including rent, amenities, transport links, green space and local online interest.
Daniel Weston, Founder at SEO Backlinks , said: “The best student areas tend to be the places that show up again and again across search, maps, rental listings and local reviews.

“That matters because students are not just choosing the cheapest room anymore. They are weighing up how easy it is to get to lectures, whether there are cafés and shops nearby, what the transport is like and whether the area feels active outside term time.
“Broomhill performs well because it balances those things. It has the student demand, but it also has the everyday infrastructure that makes an area work for young renters. ”
