The plans highlight how the housing market has rebounded strongly from recent struggles, along with the popularity of schemes such as the Government’s Help to Buy, while also going some way to addressing the much publicised housing shortage throughout areas of the UK.

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes already have a number of successful developments in East Yorkshire, including Horizons and Pembridge Park in Auckley. The homebuilder predominately employs local sub-contractors and tradesmen, meaning that local businesses and people will benefit directly from the jobs - in the 2014/15 financial year, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East spent £68 million in the local economy by working with Yorkshire-based sub-contractors and suppliers.

Paul Newman, managing director at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: “The demand for new homes has soared over the past year in the region, and we are aiming to address this demand with a number of new developments across the region. Not only will this provide more choice for local buyers looking to get on or move up the housing ladder, it’s also great news for the local economy, with a number of local construction jobs underpinned by the development of these new homes.

“Local people will also benefit from Section 106 contributions made by Barratt Developments in the area, which will all go towards improving facilities such as public open spaces, school and educational facilities, and public transport measures. The housing market in East Yorkshire is growing year on year, and it’s our hope that these new developments will help meet the demand for quality homes in the area.”
