Research by sliding door wardrobe company Spaceslide reviewed 2,515 properties for sale on Zoopla across 18 major UK cities.

The study compared the prices of properties featuring ‘walk in wardrobe’ and ‘built in wardrobe’ in their listings against the average regional property price, £188,633.

The average price in Sheffield for properties offering a walk-in wardrobe was £262,073.

No longer just for the homes of Beverly Hills, walk-in wardrobes have become a more accessible refurbishment for homes across the UK, amassing 71,100 hashtags on Instagram. For those feeling space-conscious, there’s always the more affordable and compact option of a built-in wardrobe.

Spaceslide viewed the cost of 2,515 properties for sale on Zoopla across 18 major UK cities that boast either a walk-in or built-in wardrobe. We then compared them to average property prices to find out how much these interior updates may add to your home.

The results are in, and it turns out that walk-in wardrobes may add up to £103,798 to your property value! The average listing price of homes on Zoopla that featured ‘walk in wardrobes’ was £337,687, while the average property price across the 18 cities was £233,889.

Spaceslide’s walk-in wardrobes average around £1,500, with a maximum order value of £14,000, working out at between a £89,000 and £102,000 profit for homeowners.

For cost-effective renovators, the value boost from adding a built-in wardrobe was almost as impressive. Our research showed that homes featuring ‘built-in wardrobe’ in the description were typically worth £78,632 more than the average property price of £233,889, coming in at an impressive £312,521.

Our built-in wardrobes can start from as little as £480, working out at over £78,000 profit, on average.
