Here are nine of the best – do you agree with our choices, or can you think of any more that look equally impressive?
5. Surrey Street, city centre
Despite some recent controversy over the standard of repairs to its important cobbles, this remains one of the city's most handsome streets, containing important listed buildings like the Central Library and Graves Gallery. Channing Hall, which faces onto Surrey Street, was designed in the 1880s by the renowned city architects Flockton and Gibbs. Photo: Google
6. Rustlings Road, Endcliffe
It was the scene of the infamous 'dawn raid' that became one of the defining events of the tree-felling controversy in Sheffield, but its qualities are undimmed - classic villas overlook the expanse of Endcliffe Park. Photo: Google
7. Montgomery Road, Nether Edge
Montgomery Road is part of the legacy of wealthy cutler George Wostenholm, who owned nearly all the land in the area and built his home, Kenwood, in the middle of it. He then enlisted designers to help develop the area, and the construction of streets such as Rundle Road, Kenwood Road and Montgomery Road followed from 1851 onwards. Photo: Google
8. Savage Lane, Dore
It's difficult to find a part of Dore that looks unappealing, but this ranks highly as it passes the village green - where the historic Dore Stone sits - and the war memorial. Photo: Google
