The Government’s widely-publicised extension to the stamp duty holiday has given house buyers more time to avoid paying tax bills of up to £15,000.

In his spring Budget, Chancellor Rishi Sunak confirmed that the holiday – under which people do not pay stamp duty land tax on the first £500,000 of a residential property purchase in England and Northern Ireland – will be extended until the end of June.

After June 30, the threshold for paying will drop to £250,000, then from October 1 it will return to £125,000.

It means that anyone buying a house now stands a chance of not paying any stamp duty – or being charged a greatly reduced sum.

Here are 10 homes on the market in Sheffield and listed on Zoopla worth between £125,000 and £500,000 that would be perfect for taking advantage of the tax holiday.
