Top fashionista Gok Wan is bringing his mission to improve women’s body confidence to the city – and he wants to help you.

Award-winning TV presenter and stylist Gok Wan is coming to Sheffield again later this year for another day full of fabulous fashion and food.

I was lucky enough to speak to Gok ahead of his One Size Fits All tour, which is taking place at Mercure Sheffield on Saturday, November 3.

Gok has been on our screens for over a decade now, helping women to dress well for their body shape and also love themselves for who they are – and after speaking to Gok I was certainly left feeling inspired.

“I think it’s important to celebrate all people exactly how they are. My shows are all inclusive and everyone is welcome; women of all ages and shapes and sizes. Men are welcome too, of course, but it does tend to be women who come.

“I love to see the diversity of the group of people who come to my shows. The way I see it is it’s like a bouquet of flowers; if you have a bouquet that’s just roses then it’s still beautiful but if you add some carnations then that becomes so much more interesting.”

Gok said that the fashion industry has changed in the 15 years since he began his career.

He said: “When I first started out in this industry, women would see images of what is supposed to be a perfect image in magazines, but now it’s constant on social media so it’s more important than ever to promote healthy and positive body confidence.

“If just one person leaves my show feeling more happy and comfortable in their own skin then I will have done my job and I will be happy.”

The show will include two catwalk shows, Gok’s body shape master-class, a trend analysis and a question and answer session with the man himself – so fashion-lovers will have a chance to ask Gok to help them with their own personal clothing concerns.

Gok said: “I share my own story with people first so I can create a safe space for people to share their worries and concerns.

“It becomes quite emotional actually because of some of the stories that are shared, but it’s also lovely to see people giving each other the confidence to stand up and share their experiences.

“Importantly though it’s all about fashion and having fun, and there will also be some fizz too – so get your girls together and come along.”

As part of the show, which will take place at the Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel and Spa, from 11am, there will be a two-course brunch, a chance to win a makeover with Gok and a goody bag.
