Older people with dementia who attend a Doncaster day care service can enjoy the sunny days in more comfort, thanks to a donation of garden furniture.
The garden goodies were donated by Janet Taylor, whose husband Gerald attends the Bentley Lodge day care service, and her friends Lorna Montgomery and Judy Wood.
The women together with a team of helpers, raised nearly £1000 at a fund-raising pie and pea supper held recently in Sprotbrough.
They also bought a garden shed and a range of craft materials for the day care service, which is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).
Janet said: “I wanted to do something to raise money for The Community Memory Therapy Services and told my friend Lorna. Lorna and our friends all rallied round and helped us raise this amazing amount. It was a way of saying thank you to the staff at Bentley Lodge and at the Community Memory Therapy Service for all they have done for myself and my husband. They are all so kind.”
Tracey Evans, who works for RDaSH’s Community Memory Therapy Services, said: “The patients who attend our day care service really appreciate this donation and are making good use of it during this lovely sunny weather. We can’t thanks Janet and her friends enough for this lovely gesture.”
