Sunday is expected to be a better day for drinking outside with sunny intervals and a fresh breeze forecast. Highs of 18 degrees are expected by mid-afternoon.
Drinkers have been urged to respect the new measures in place. Police officers will be visiting pubs that are reopening and extra officers will be on duty to deal with the large crowds expected. Sheffield’s hospitals are also braced for a busy night.
South Yorkshire’s Chief Constable Stephen Watson said the “vast majority” of the public “have behaved absolutely magnificently” in observing the lockdown restrictions.
