New taste of Sicily arrives in Sheffield - with traditional dishes on menu

Italian specials and Sicilian charm has arrived on Fulwood Road

A new taste of Sicily has arrived in Sheffield - with traditional dishes on the menu.

Owner Giuseppe Spadaro opened his new Sicilian cafe and bistrot, Etna, on Fulwood Road, in late September after seeing the empty unit and wanting to bring some sunshine to Sheffield.

Giuseppe moved to Sheffield in 2013 from Catania in Sicily where is worked at Casanova in Crookes for ten years, before deciding he wanted a place of his own to share the traditional dishes from home.

When asked what customers can look forward to at Etna, Giuseppe said: “We are open for breakfast and light lunches, bringing delicious Italian and Sicilian dishes to Broomhill”

It is hoped Etna could start opening a few evenings a week with a restaurant style menu but they are very much open to feedback from customers

“We'll try to get some feedback from customers because at the end work for them. So I want to try to satisfy everyone,” Giuseppe said. “It is exciting and it's all going well at the moment. It's a great spot, so lots of people are coming in, we have lots of regulars already and everyday we are getting new people coming in.”

The menu will change with the seasons and on what customers are asking for but at the moment you can expect classics like pasta alla norma which Guiseppe promises to taste just like your grandma’s.

Etna has taken over the space where Remo's Cafe Bistro once was and hopes people will appreciate their offerings of Italian coffee, all-day breakfast, fresh pasta, pizza, panini, salads, and homemade Sicilian desserts, including cannoli, tiramisù, and cheesecake.
