Sheffield pub 'won't be reopening' after coronavirus lockdown

Another Sheffield pub has announced it won’t be reopening, amid fears that up to a third of bars and restaurants could permanently close due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Black Bull, on Church Street, Ecclesfield, announced the news on its Facebook page.

“After a long and hard think we regret to inform you that the Black Bull won't be reopening,” it said.

“We would like to thank all our customers for making myself and Karl welcome. We have enjoyed working here and getting to know you all. Hope you all keep safe. Love Carol and Karl.”

The pub is a leasehold venue and, asked whether it would ever reopen, manager Carol Mervyn replied: “Not sure. They will most probably wait till someone else takes the lease on.”

The listing says that a £260,000 investment is planned, which includes ‘reclaiming’ a previously disused barn space.
