The initiative, aimed at helping hospitality businesses post-lockdown, allows customers to get 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks up to the value of £10 per person between Monday and Wednesday.

However, in a post on social media, the Red Deer, based on Pitt Street, said it won’t be taking part.

The post read: “There are a number of reasons for this, the major one being that our kitchen is so small, facilitating large demand on food will be challenging, especially as only one chef can work at a time.”

The pub will, however, offer a 50 per cent discount on food to staff at Sheffield University, Sheffield Students’ Union and NHS staff from Monday to Wednesday until 20 August, and may extend this until the end of the month.
