A popular Indian restaurant in Sheffield is making a comeback after it was forced to shut when the country went into lockdown.

Urban Choola, on Ecclesall Road, has been closed for more than three weeks to comply with the Government's strict social distancing measures.

But now the place has found a way to reopen - and it will be serving its street food-inspired dishes for collection or delivery from April 16.

“We have now implemented systems to be able to provide a collection and delivery service, and minimise the risk to our staff and customers,” the restaurant's bosses explained.

“We will be doing a limited menu and it will be subject to availability."

The smaller menu features classics such as chicken tikka and lamb vindaloo, as well as specialities including kodampuli malabar prawn. Among the vegetarian options is a jackfruit and mushroom biryani.

Urban Choola used to operate on London Road, but moved to Ecclesall Road – close to the old Napoleons Casino – in 2016.

Deliveries will be available via City Grab – the app run by Sheffield-based City Taxis – and Deliveroo. Collections will be contactless, and are being offered at a discounted price of 15 per cent off for the general public, and 25 per cent off for NHS staff.

Opening hours will be 5pm to 9pm, every day except Monday. Collection orders can be placed over the phone by calling 0114 266 6681, or sent to [email protected] via email.
