Atkinsons, on The Moor, said Massarella’s Café on the ground floor would serve its usual drinks menu, with limited toasted sandwiches, paninis and other baked goods also on offer, from 9.30am-4pm Monday to Saturday.

The café, which has outdoor seating, is among many pubs, restaurants and cafés set to reopen for the first time since March as lockdown restrictions are eased this weekend.

Atkinsons, which has been trading in Sheffield for nearly 150 years, also announced it is reopening its customer toilets on the first floor.

Massarella Gelaterie Ltd went into administration after the coronavirus lockdown began, but Massarella Catering Group said at the time that its three outlets at Atkinsons were unaffected.

Atkinsons said that since it reopened on June 15, with one-way systems in place, it has seen a ‘steady increase’ in customers returning.
