Fast food restaurant Popeyes closes Barnsley branch - just three years after opening
The fast food chain has locations across South Yorkshire
A popular fast food chain has closed down one of its South Yorkshire sites only a handful of years after it opened.
Popeyes opened their drive-thru restaurant in Peel Retail Park, just outside of Barnsley town centre, in 2023.
However, now the restaurants has been left empty with a sign on the door announcing its closure.
“It has been our pleasure to be able to serve so many of you over the years and we hope to see you in one of our neighbouring restaurants,” the sign reads.
The Louisiana-style chicken takeaway came to the UK in 2021, and has since continued to grow across the country.
Alongside its site in Barnsley, the chain opened restaurants in Meadowhall and Parkgate in Rotherham back in 2023.
In 2025, a new site on The Moor in Sheffield city centre also opened.
Popeyes has been approached for comment.
