The Royal on Market street in Woodhouse village has recently been listed for lease with reasons currently unknown as owners have remained tight-lipped about the plans due to ongoing negotiations.

It is believed that the current leaseholders are due to step down from the business on December 8, and advertisements are already in place for a new publican.

Pauline Boswell, who has been the landlady at the pub for 27 years, is a well-known member of the community and has received plenty of well wishes from loyal customers.
