Potato waffles are a staple for many, but have been shrouded in debate for years on how they should be cooked.

Birds Eye have finally quashed the argument on how to cook your potato waffles after hours of rigorous testing – and the results are in.

Now, the humble potato waffle’s cooking instructions read different when their iconic red packet is turned over.

The company say its quicker – and easier, to put your waffles in the toaster.

However the company say there is an art to this, as reported in the Daily Star.

After customers demanded to know how safe the method was, Birds Eye spent more than 103 hours testing 3,000 waffles, ensuring they knew the secret to toasting to perfection.

They revealed that two rounds of toasting is the secret to a waffle that is golden brown on the outside, and fluffy on the inside.

Birds Eye recommends putting them in on a medium to high setting, and after they’re finished, putting them back in for a second time, to secure the ideal waffle.

In a Twitter poll by Birds Eye, 65.2% of voters revealed they were unaware of the cooking hack, when asked “Did you know, you can cook our potato waffles in the toaster?”
