Everything is in place in our amazing Win A Wedding competition - even the date is set. All we need is the right couple.


On October 3, our winning lovebirds will plight their troth in the most romantic of settings, the beautiful Grade II listed Victorian pavilions at Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens off Clarkhouse Road.

The gardens and pavilions, some of the earliest ever built, have recently been fully restored at a cost of approximately £6.69 million and they are the only Botanical Gardens in the country to have undertaken such a complete restoration.

The central dome of the pavilions has a license to conduct civil ceremonies and civil partnership ceremonies. Amidst the hothouse greenery and exotic blooms, guests can watch our winning pair exchange their vows. This part of the prize alone is worth over £1,000. And afterwards, the stunning gardens will be available for the bridal photographs, which are also part of our fabulous prize package.

City photographer Lloyd Siddall is at the happy couple’s disposal for eight hours on the big day. Lloyd Siddall Photography of Kiveton Park will skilfully create up to 200 stunning images, digital memories to treasure, plus a DVD of the day and a preview album - worth a total of £1,249.

Every wedding day is a celebration - and where better to feast, make merry and toast the bride and groom than at the elegant Whirlowbrook Hall, just a short drive from the lush Botanical Gardens?

The perfect blend of charm, tradition and modern high standards, the stone manor house dating back to 1906 sits high on an elevated terrace with spectacular views of its picturesque 39 acres of gardens.

A private home for many years, it is now renowned as one of Sheffield’s premier event and wedding venues. With complimentary parking and Wi-fi, plus a team dedicated to cater for your every whim, Whirlowbrook Hall strive to make every wedding perfect. Our bride and groom will win a three-course wedding breakfast and afternoon tea and coffee for 40 guests, an evening buffet for 80 complete with DJ, a room to prepare in on the wedding day, all the little touches that make the occasion special - from a red carpet at the entrance to pristine white table linen and a master of ceremonies to ensure the reception smoothly - a prize in itself worth a staggering £4,112.

Additional dainty touches to the value of £550 - right down to the organza chair covers and table centrepieces, lanterns and twinkling tealights - will be provided by Sheffield’s Simply Seated.

A wedding planner is also part of the prize package. Unique Wedding Planning, a finalist in the 2014 Wedding Industry Awards, will be on call throughout the planning of the wedding. Your wedding planner will help you organise the details, like choosing your stationery - to the value of £350 from another quality local business, Contemporary Invitations Ltd - and the timing of the wedding car, a beautiful vintage Daimler loaned by Fairytale wedding Cars, a prize that includes a bottle of champagne for the journey and is worth £395.

She will also be on hand on October 3 itself, right from breakfast through to the first dance - performed with the help of £60 of free lessons at the Dance Unlimited Studio on Little London Road.

As the evening do gets into full swing, guests will be treated to a mouth-watering, five-tier chocolate fountain dripping in molten Belgian chocolate courtesy of Crown Events UK, and have fun striking a pose in a special wedding day photo booth (this £450 prize is provided by local experts Fotoboov.

Even the wedding cake is part of the package, thanks to bespoke cake-maker Rachel Edwards. Her company Oh Sugar! will work with the couple to create an arty edible centrepiece to the value of £350. As they say, it’s the icing on the cake.

Our closing date for entries is January 24 2014. After that, a judging panel will decide on a shortlist of three couples, whose stories will be told in The Star.

All our readers will then get a chance to vote for the winner. Text vote lines will open on February 5 and close five days later. And the winning pair will be announced in a Star special on Valentine’s Day.
