A DAMAGED section of track caused the closure of the railway crossing at Moss, near Doncaster, for most of yesterday.
The broken rail on the Moss Road crossing was spotted before dawn and although it was only very small, engineers had to be clamp it to allow trains to continue running.
"In order to get the clamp on, we had to lift the road surface so, unfortunately, the road had to remain closed to rail traffic for the rest of the day," said a Network Rail spokesman.
Engineers returned last night to complete the repair.
