Have a butcher’s at the newcomer behind the counter in Bradway. You might well recognise him...

Mike Young, who takes over the butcher’s on Twentywell Lane at the end of this month, ran the village’s Border View Farm Shop for four years before leaving to manage Coppice House Farm Shop in the Rivelin Valley in 2012.

A butcher from learning the ropes as a Saturday lad at the age of 12, Mike is relishing going back to Bradway. “People there love shopping local and appreciate quality produce,” says Mike, who is continuing his thriving business in the Rivelin and plans to introduce Bradway customers to a Coppice House favourite - boerewors sausages.

“I discovered the recipe when I lived in South Africa in the Eighties and built up a loyal clientelle with ex-pats. I think Bradway will like them.”

Mike’s daughter Tara intends to run a hot and cold speciality sandwich service from the shop too.
