Illness leads to tram delay

A TRAM in Sheffield city centre was delayed after a female passenger fell ill. The middle-aged woman was carried off the tram by the conductor and an ambulance was called to the Cathedral stop.

The tram, bound for Meadowhall, was delayed by around 10 minutes following the incident at 10.45am on Monday.

Animal protest

THE National Anti-Vivisection Society hit the streets of Sheffield with a billboard van parked up in Barker’s Pool. The organisation is calling for a commitment to replace animal experiments with alternatives under the banner ‘Cutting Edge Not Knife Edge’.

Shop set alight

FIREFIGHTERS were called to the Job Lot store on Barnsley Road, Owlerton, Sheffield, after flames from a fire outside spread to the shop. Crew members had to use bolt cutters to gain access. An arson attack was to blame for the blaze.

Scout fire scare

A SCOUT hut had to be ventilated by firefighters after a pile of rubbish was set alight beside the building, sending plumes of smoke inside. The fire on Barnsley Road, Shiregreen, Sheffield, was started deliberately.
