The data in the report, produced by mydatingadviser.com is based on population characteristics, date costs and affordability of living in that city as a single person.

Aberdeen is the top city in the UK for singles followed by Warrington, Derby and Reading. This is due to these cities having "happier, sexier and more educated people as well as having affordable date and living costs” according to the report.

The worst cities for singles include Worthing, Eastbourne and London. This is due to the cities having less desirable population characteristics and higher costs for dates and living expenses.

Amy Pritchett, Managing Editor of MyDatingAdviser commented: “We found that Aberdeen is the top city for UK singles. The population has a high level of education and large sexual appetite during the months of lockdown. Aberdeen is affordable for a night out with a pint costing £3.40 and a cinema ticket at £9.00. The city is also an affordable place for a single person to live with a decent average salary and low cost of rent. Rent as a percentage of earnings in Aberdeen is at 1.74 per cent.

“We found that Worthing is the worst city for UK singles due to a low level of education, unhappy population and low sexual appetite. On top of this, a night out isn’t cheap with a cinema ticket at £13.50 (even more than London). Finally, rent as a percentage of earnings is at 3.03 per cent where more affordable cities for singles are in the one per cent range.”
