The business, which primarily sells sourdough pizza, was started by Tim and his friends Emma Blackmore and Peter Bruton, who had always dreamed of opening a restaurant and wanted to offer something different to the usual chain names.

“We called the restaurant Three Joes because do do feel like we are three average Joes in that we are just three average people. We have seven kids between the three of us and we sat down and discussed what we wanted from a restaurant when we go out with our families and friends.

“We decided that we wanted good food at good prices, and we didn’t want to have to download any vouchers on to our phones to be able to get a good deal.” With that in mind, the trio decided to offer a transparent pricing system, with the cheapest pizza on the menu – tomato, oregano and basil – being £5. Most of the other pizzas on the menu are under £10, and the remaining two are less than £12.

Tim said: “We wanted to be accessible to everyone, so if you want to you can come in and have a tomato, oregano and basil pizza and a glass of water for £5, but you can also come in and have a bottle of good wine or craft beer with your pizza too.

“We hope that customers will come in to see what we are about and then reward our delicious food and fair pricing with loyalty and also tell their friends.” The trio pride themselves on offering pizza flavours that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. There’s a teriyaki beef pizza topped with edamame, mozzarella, spring onions, red chilli, toasted sesame seeds and coriander.

There are also options for people with dietary requirements. Vegan options include the vegan barbecue, topped with seitan meat free chicken in a barbecue sauce, vegan mozzarella, spring onion, red pepper and coriander. None gluten bases can also be requested for all pizzas. Tim said: “We wanted to give people something a little bit different, although they can come still get a class pepperoni pizza if that’s what they want. You can put anything on a pizza, but it’s my business partner Emma who puts together the flavour combinations that work. I think she’s a bit of a genius with the pizzas she creates and I’m lucky because I get to enjoy tasting them.”
