Heather Newson is learning to love the breeze - after sacrificing her long flowing locks for a national children’s charity.
Heather, who works at The University of Sheffield Students’ Union, lost her long hair as part of a fundraiser for the Students’ Union’s Raising and Giving.
She donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real wigs for children with hair loss.
And she also raised more than £750 for Café Luz y Luna, social projects which are creating employment and supporting communities’ own development in Northern Nicaragua.
“It feels amazing,” said Heather, once the extreme trim was finished.
“I can’t stop touching it. It feels so natural as well though, like I was always meant to have this haircut.”
RAG supports and organises hundreds of fundraising events and activities throughout the year and last year alone raised more than £174,600, donating 82 per cent of this amount to local charities.
