A Sheffield illustrator will see her work hung in homes across the country after winning a national competition
Carly Watts beat off competition from more than 50 people to become the winner of the Direct Blinds competition.
The 27-year-old, who lives in the city centre, impressed judges with her colourful winter bird designs, which will be on sale on the company’s website from January 12.
Carly, who has been designing for three years, said: “I’m so pleased to have won the competition - it’s a lovely surprise. I was really happy to have even been shortlisted but to actually win is brilliant.
“I put a lot of thought into the concept and design of my Winter Birds collection and I’m thrilled that it’s paid off. I hope people will enjoy the designs.”
Nicolas Swift, joint managing director of Direct Blinds, said: “We found it incredibly difficult to choose a shortlist, and picking a winner was even harder, but we were so impressed by Carly’s design and we can see it being popular with our customers.
“The bird design Carly created is extremely unique and there is nothing like it available elsewhere. Carly has real talent, and we’re thrilled to be helping her take her next step on the career ladder.”
