PROTEIN Dance raise several points by placing new media communication against the human endurance of its spirited company of performers in a show that is totally of our time.

With the variously translated initials LOL - here meaning Lots Of Love - as it’s backbone, the piece is fuelled by the virtual world and explores – through cunning and frenetic movement, dialogue and projected visuals – the fast-paced social opportunities, challenges and fall-out of our on-line quest for relationships, love and pals.

LOL can also mean lack of love, laugh out loud and more, and Protein seek to prod the deriviatives with much humour, ultimately teeing up the bleak question: are we any better off for this brave new world?

Andy Pink’s stunning soundtrack, sampling sounds that accompany the likes of email drops and Skype, is matched by hilarious messages and sad stories from seven sharp dancers playing out various web-wired scenarios from first dates to net-born romance. Genius.
