Green fingered gardeners to show off their allotment plots

Have your say

Gardeners are getting ready to throw open the gates of their allotments in Sheffield to celebrate their work and share their harvest.

Grimesthorpe Allotments will be the venue on Sunday, September 22, for Allotment Soup – an annual creative and artistic harvest celebration organised by Grow Sheffield with a different city allotment association each year.

Plot holders will open up their patches to the public and host entertainment including a treasure hunt, archeological dig, world music, storytelling, puppets, dancing and an installation celebrating bees.

All kinds of food from the various cultures represented on the allotment site on Grimesthorpe Road will be served from noon to 5pm – along with the traditional soup that always accompanies the evening entertainment.
